WCSU Students and Faculty Earn Multiple Regional KCACTF Awards

Students and faculty from the Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts have once again collected a multitude of awards at this year's Region 1 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival competition. The regional festival was conducted virtually this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

La Jolla Playhouse is pleased to launch its 2020 Performance Outreach Program (POP) Tour production: Emily Driver's Great Race through Time and Space, by A.A. Brenner and Gregg Mozgala, directed by National Disability Theatre (NDT) Co-Executive Directors and Playhouse Artists-in-Residence Talleri A. McRae and Mickey Rowe. The production will tour schools throughout San Diego County January 29 a?" March 27.  Commissioned by the Playhouse, this world-premiere play for young audiences will also have four public performances on February 29 and March 1 at 1:00pm and 3:00pm at La Jolla Playhouse. Roses are Blind, an award-winning film featuring 4-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines and Tony nominee Daniel Davis will have a screening in NYC on Wed. 1/15 at 8:15pm at Anthology Archives (62 Second Avenue) as part of the NewFilmmakers New York Film Festival. Tickets are $7 and go on sale at 5:30pm the night of screening at the Anthology Box Office. The film is directed by Gui Agustini, Executive Produced by Wendy J. Going to see Broadway Palm's latest production, Grumpy Old Men, did this baby boomer's heart good. This show demonstrates that senior citizens can still fall in love and are still-gasp!-interested in sex. The seasoned performers belt out the songs and deliver the somewhat bawdy lines and gestures with impressive vigor.

Raised in Raleigh, trailblazing African-American activists, sisters and best friends Sadie and Bessie Delany - both over 100 years old - take audiences on an inspiring and entertaining journey as they recount the stories of their lives, from growing up on what is now the campus of Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh as the daughters of a former slave, to integrating a New York suburb during the Harlem Renaissance, and beyond.
