Students and faculty from the Western Connecticut State University Department of Theatre Arts have once again collected a multitude of awards at this year's Region 1 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival competition. The regional festival was conducted virtually this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next week, twelve University of Hawai'i at Mānoa students will be among several hundred undergraduate and graduate students sharing their talents in a regional collegiate acting competition that could forward any one of them to Nationals.

Shakespeare at Notre Dame has been awarded a 2020-21 Shakespeare in American Communities grant, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.

Roses are Blind, an award-winning film featuring 4-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines and Tony nominee Daniel Davis will have a screening in NYC on Wed. 1/15 at 8:15pm at Anthology Archives (62 Second Avenue) as part of the NewFilmmakers New York Film Festival. Tickets are $7 and go on sale at 5:30pm the night of screening at the Anthology Box Office. The film is directed by Gui Agustini, Executive Produced by Wendy J. White and co-written by Agustini and White.

Going to see Broadway Palm's latest production, Grumpy Old Men, did this baby boomer's heart good. This show demonstrates that senior citizens can still fall in love and are still-gasp!-interested in sex. The seasoned performers belt out the songs and deliver the somewhat bawdy lines and gestures with impressive vigor.

Cleveland Play House (CPH) Artistic Director Laura Kepley announced today the casting of Cleveland native Mariah Burks in the title role of the timeless Greek tragedy Antigone. Staged in the intimate Outcalt Theatre March 28th through April 19th, 2020, this contemporary translation is freely adapted by playwright Emily Mann from the classic play by Sophocles. Skylight Music Theatre today announced the cast and creative team for The Gospel at Colonus running January 17-26, 2020 in the Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

After a three-show run at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC) Studio Theatre, the college's Academic and Dance Theatre students' performance of 'Desires of a Criminal, a Devised Theatrical Collage,' will return to local theatre for an encore performance that will support the show's appearance at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in January.

North Carolina Theatre, the region's premiere nonprofit professional theatre, announced casting for its November production of Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years, playing November 8-17 at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. Raised in Raleigh, trailblazing African-American activists, sisters and best friends Sadie and Bessie Delany - both over 100 years old - take audiences on an inspiring and entertaining journey as they recount the stories of their lives, from growing up on what is now the campus of Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh as the daughters of a former slave, to integrating a New York suburb during the Harlem Renaissance, and beyond.

In November, The Studio Theatre Tierra del Sol (806 San Marino Drive, The Villages, FL) will open its second production of its fourth season, a comedy written by Bernardo Cubria- Neighbors: A Fair Trade Agreement.
