Scott Emmons Named Dean of UWM's Peck School of the Arts

(5/15/2013) - Scott Emmons has been named dean of the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). Emmons, a professor of music education, joined the UWM faculty in 1992. He has served as interim dean of the Peck School during the 2012-13 Year of the Arts at UWM, a celebration of the Peck School's 50th anniversary.

Dixie Longate Set to Tour Milwaukee Landmarks, 5/15

(5/14/2013) - Dixie Longate, star of Dixie's Tupperware Party, will be touring Milwaukee landmarks during her press tour on Wednesday, May 15 with transportation by Bell Ambulance. During her tour, she will be making a special stop at the Milwaukee Public Market and La Perla. Dixie will make her stop at the Milwaukee Public Market, 400 North Water Street, at11:30 am and at La Perla, 734 South 5th Street, at 12:00 pm on the 15th. During this time, she will be taking photos with patrons and various Milwaukee landmarks. This tour will kick off her engagement at the Marcus Center's Vogel Hall that runs May 14-26.

Marcus Center For The Performing Arts Releases Updated Schedule for LIVE @ PECK PAVILION

(5/10/2013) - The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts announces a change in the line up of the 2013 Live @ Peck Pavilion series in Marcus Center's Peck Pavilion that will kick off this July. This series, which started last summer, will now feature The Spirit Family Reunion on Tuesday, August 20 at 7:30 pm. The series will also include types of performances the Center typically presents inside the building on its newly updated grounds. This is a way for the Marcus Center to invite the public to sample the arts in a marvelous setting for a nominal cost.

Marcus Center Teams Up with Curves for DIXIE'S TUPPERWARE PARTY

(5/9/2013) - The Marcus Center is teaming up with Curves in the Greater Milwaukee Area to offer a special Enter-To-Win Giveaway on Saturday, May 18 at the 3:00 pm performance of Dixie's Tupperware Party for audience members. This hilarious show starring Dixie Longate -- which turned Off-Broadway into a Tupperware-mania celebration and garnered the prestigious 2008 Drama Desk Award Nomination -- rolls into the Marcus Center's Vogel Hall for a strictly limited engagement on May 14-26.

Renaissance Theaterworks Presents Reading of CENSORED ON FINAL APPROACH Today

MYSO Music Director Retires After 50 Year Conducting Career

(4/5/2013) - Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) announces the retirement of Ronald Melby after 48 years as a MYSO conductor. MYSO is honoring him at a series of events which began in January when its Senior Symphony saluted him at its annual Founders Concert. The organization will continue its celebration of his career May 17-19, 2013, the weekend of his final conducting performance, with Friday night festivities with MYSO students and families, and a public celebration and concert on Sunday afternoon.
