Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and Milwaukee Children's Choir Present Milwaukee Youth Music Celebration, 3/10

Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) and Milwaukee Children's Choir (MCC) have announced that on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 3:00 PM, MYSO and MCC will present this year's collaborative Milwaukee Youth Music Celebration in Helen Bader Concert Hall, at the UW-Milwaukee Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts, 2419 East Kenwood Blvd., Milwaukee. At this concert--an annual event since 2005--the Milwaukee area's finest young musicians gather to perform some of the world's best music.

Featured groups will be MYSO's Senior Symphony--Music Director, Margery Deutsch, Associate Conductor Shelby Keith Dixon--and MCC's Milwaukee Youth Chorale, Jason Clark, Director. MCC and MYSO will be joined by the Milwaukee Choristers and singers from The Master Singers and West Allis Central and Nathan Hale High School Concert Choirs as well as singers from MYSO's Senior Symphony.

Pieces performed by MYSO's Senior Symphony, include:
Engelbert Humperdinck, Prelude to Hänsel und Gretel, conducted by Shelby Keith Dixon
A world premiere of a Luctum ad Pacem, by student composer Sabrina Raber, composed immediately after news of the December 2012 shooting deaths in Newtown, Connecticut, was broadcast to the world. The piece will be conducted by Margery Deutsch.
Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky, Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasia, conducted by Margery Deutsch
The concert will also include works performed by the individual choirs involved:
George Frideric Handel, "But as for His people" from Israel in Egypt and African American spiritual Ride On, King Jesus, both performed by The Milwaukee Choristers, Dr. James B. Kinchen Jr., Director
I am In Need of Music by Eric Barnum and Lennon's Can't Buy Me Love, performed by Milwaukee Children's Choir's Milwaukee Youth Chorale and conducted by Jason Clark
The following pieces for orchestra and chorus will be performed, all conducted by Margery Deutsch
Giuseppe Verdi, "Va, pensiero" from Nabucco
Giuseppe Verdi, "Anvil Chorus" from Il trovatore
Giacomo Puccini, "Nessun dorma" from Turandot
Giuseppe Verdi, "Triumphal Hymn and March" from Aida
