When you talk to anyone involved in Milwaukee theater, they will tell you it's something special. Milwaukee is one of those towns where the actors are ready to take on any challenge and the actors was to be challenged. This perfect balance brings shows like 'Porgy and Bess' at the Skylight to life. I was lucky enough to talk to two of the stars of the show, Nate Stampley who is playing Crown and Jason McKinney who is playing Porgy about their roles in the show and their roles in Milwaukee.

While this is Jason's Milwaukee debut, he still had great things to say about the city and the artistic direction of the show. Jason Made it clear in our interview that he loves anything that challenges him and forces the audience to think about what they are seeing. "I am looking forward to bring a big new level to the show which is always a challenge," Jason explained.

But for Nate, this is not his first Milwaukee experience. Nate grew up in the area and came to the Skylight for multiple shows in high school. Those shows left a lasting impression on him, even years later. Stampley said that, "I am always impressed by the talent in these shows and the constant amount of support from the community."

Both Nate and Jason hit the issue right on the head, it comes down to the community. When the community is excited about the works that they are seeing, there is a better chance that they will come back again and again. Luckily for some of Milwaukee's most talented artists, the community is ready to listen. For those interested in seeing Jason and Nate in action, Porgy and Bess is currently playing at the Skylight. Both actors promote coming to the show with an open mind and an open heart.

More on these two very talented men coming soon!
